Orlando’s Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure both offer an exciting new entertainment form- spell casting! A few shops in the two theme parks, such as Ollivander’s Wand Shop in Hogsmeade and Wands by Gregorivtch in Diagon Alley, offer interactive wands for purchase that can be used in both parks. A number of shops and landmarks in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley have markers showing incantations to cast spells, ranging from simple spells like Locomotor to complex enchantments like Specialis Revelio. I’m here to talk about these spells and how to do them correctly so you have the best spell-casting experience!
Where to cast?
All around the Wizarding World, you find markers on the ground giving you the incantations to spells. To cast a spell, simply stand on the marker and wave your wand in the shape on the marker and wait. (speaking the spell is not necessary, but it does up the reality factor!). If nothing happens, feel free to try again or find a new spell. lines do crop up near spells, so be sure not to keep others waiting. Also, there are staff members around everywhere, and some are great at helping people get the movements right.

Meteolojinx causes rain to pour out of an umbrella. It makes a pretty good photo opportunity. This spell is located under the umbrella near Flimflam’s Lanterns in Diagon Alley.
How to cast?
Casting a spell doesn’t just require waving a wand. You have to do it right. You cant just slash with your wand really quickly or really slowly, you have to do it correctly, about the same speed as waving your arm. You also can’t do the waving motion to big, you have to keep the shape within about a square foot.
Hogsmeade spells
Islands of Adventure’s Hogsmeade has some pretty good spells to try out, including-

Top 3 spells in Hogsmeade-
- 1) Locomotor and Arresto Momento at Dervish and Banges. This is a great spell to start your journey with, and are pretty easy to cast. The shape for Locomotor is a “4”, and the shape for Arresto Momento is an “M”
- 2) Incendio at Zonko’s Joke shop. This is an exciting spell that has a fun affect. Move your wand in a “Δ” shape and activate a pile of fireworks
- 3) Revelio at Honeydukes. This spell includes a symbolic Harry Potter item: the Chocolate Frog. Use Revelio to open the box and reveal the sugary amphibian. Chocolate Frogs are also for sale in Honeydukes. Revelio is an “R” shape.

Universal Studios has a wide array of enchantments for wizards-in-training to attempt, such as-

Top 3 spells in Diagon Alley-
- 1) Aguamenti at the Mermaid Fountain. This makes water come out of a frog’s mouth by the fountain. This spell has one on either side of the fountain. this spell is in the shape of “⌢”. But watch out! Occasionally the fountain will spurt out water on either side, so you may get wet.
- 2) Reparo at Bowman E. Wright Blacksmith. This spell is hard to get right, but I think it’s worth it. wave your wand in a “໑” motion. This spell repairs a set of armor.
- 3) Dark Detectors at Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment. This location has no spell, you just slowly move your wand and watch the eyes follow it.
Knockturn Alley
Diagon isn’t the only alley in Studios. Knockturn Alley is home to dark arts shops and has five spells. Here are two of them.
Locomotor
Use this spell to make the chimney sweep above you to climb up the chimney and slide back down again.
The Moving Skeleton
Here, you can slowly move your wand and make the skeleton’s movements follow the motions you make. use the same speed as the Dark Detectors.

The chimney sweep in action!
Secret spells
Hidden about Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade are Secret spells. These are spells that don’t have markers, but still can be used with an ordinary wand. Look for windows with items in the center, or just groups of people practicing magic in area without markers. In these areas, try wand movements that seem spell-worthy, like W, D, δ, or ζ. If something happens, congrats! You’ve just discovered a secret spell! If you think you have found a secret spell but don’t know the movement, feel free to search up the movement for a specific spell. (For example, Alohamora is shaped like φ.
I wont tell you where, but I do know a secret spell in Diagon Alley. Here are two hints-

This spell’s wand movement is in the shape of “S”
