Key Point 2, week of 3/23 2025, New York City (NYC) sights

(This post will not include major sights like Central Park, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty. I will be making an article of these later!)

NYC is a HUGE city. Around 60 million people visit it every year. Almost everyone visits the Statue of Liberty and other big places like the Empire State Building on their trip, so those places are pretty crowded. But between the cracks are other sights that not as many people know about. Read on!

Little Island

Little Island, an artificial island on the Hudson River

Little Island

On the Hudson River there is a cool park settled on an artificial island called Little Island. There are viewpoints, an amphitheater, an some of the xylophones that you can try. It is a great photo spot, and has many benches. I like this place because there’s space to run around and space to relax. And, it’s totally free!

The Vessel

The Vessel is an interesting looking building shaped out of rings.

Another cool place in NYC is the Vessel. It’s a really cool viewpoint and a really cool looking building. Reddish-orange interconnecting rings stacked on top of each other, it kind of looks like a pineapple. (At least, in my opinion) tickets are ten dollars, or you can get the flex ticket, which lets you pick a day to visit, and show up any time. (the regular tickets have you pick a date and time.)

The High Line

The High Line runs pretty close to Little Island, so if you need to go there, consider the High Line!

The High Line offers an incredible array of art pieces, like the Old Tree.

My last thing I would like to talk about is the High Line. It is an aboveground walkway that used to be a railroad. Now it’s an array of plants, benches, and artwork. It is just under a mile and a half long, and it takes about 30 minutes to walk if you don’t stop to gaze in awe at the artwork. What’s also pretty cool is that the High Line goes right by Little Island and the Vessel. So you can see the Vessel, walk the High Line, and end up on Little Island.
