We recently went to Aquatica with our visiting family before they flew back home. Here are my reviews on the slides I did!
Rides!
As the name might suggest, Aquatica is a water park. My family recently went there with some of our family, even though it rained for a portion of our stay. Here are my reviews of the slides!
(Unfortunately, I did not do Tassie’s Underwater Twist, Riptide Race, Ihu’s Breakaway Falls, or the Reef Plunge, and therefore cannot give reviews or details.)
1 Omaka Rocka
This was by far my favorite ride. You get a two-person raft for yourself and a buddy (you can also ride by yourself) and start in an enclosed tube. I love this one because there are a couple funnel like things where your raft might get flipped backwards! And since there are multiple funnels, you can get flipped up to three times!
2 Wanau Way
These four slides are almost as awesome as Omaka. This is another two-person slide, but what I think is the coolest is that you can choose the slide you go on! Each slide begins enclosed with a unique waterfall before opening up to a good sized drop into the end pool. I personally recommend the blue or aqua colored slides because they have two drops at the end.
3 Walhalla Wave
This is one of the two six-person slides. (The other is Ray Rush.) It starts open with some great twists and turns then turns to a tube slide to the ground. My dad got stuck facing backwards and got splashed accordingly. It was hilarious.
4 Ray Rush
This is another six-person slide. You start on an open slide then you slide into a kind of ball and swirl around until you continue to the “Manta Wings”, two large sides that make you go back and forth. Then as the grand finale you go into a tube lit up with lots of Manta ray pictures until sliding out to the finish pool.
5 Roa’s Rapids
This isn’t an ordinary lazy river. It’s an awesome, quick, hilarious one. It is named “Rapids” for a reason. They aren’t too fast, just fast enough you don’t have to swim at all to go quick. There are three islands where you get going even quicker. If you’re on one side of the park and want to get to the other without walking, I’d ride this. I always stay to the outermost side because the jets there make go super fast.
6 Kare Kare Curl
This kind of a mini Ray Rush. You start with a circle in a tube to another set of wings. Kare Kare is different because the main wing is almost perpendicular to the ground. My one complaint is it normally has a pretty long line for a slide that’s kind of short-lived. But otherwise it’s super fun.
7 Taumata Racer
This line for these eight slides is pretty quick. You get a kind if foam sled and race with others. The slides are mostly enclosed but there’s plenty of light. Just be sure to have a quick start so your sled doesn’t get stuck on the slide!
8 Loggerhead Lane
This is another lazy river, circling Tassie’s Underwater twist. There is a point where you can go to the Fish Grotto or view the Commerson’s Dolphins and the underwater portion of Reef Plunge. It’s pretty cool to see them, but other than the dolphins, I’m not really a fan.
